As stories of the one year anniversary of the NIU Cole Hall shooting crossed the news this weekend, I once again reflected back to my four and a half years out there in DeKalb. And as I browsed the web, I stumbled upon (not literally) this little gem: a recording of a Magnificent Ambersons reunion show that evidently took place not too long ago (October '07).

Not the greatest sound quality as I listen here though my Macbook tonight and it takes a while for the show to get rolling, but it still brought back some good Otto's memories. The Ambersons, The Tossers, Hunt The Wumpus, NDI, just a few of the bands I used to go see with regularity with a $2 32 oz. big gulp of Schlitz or Miller Lite in hand. I can still see the glow of the BOOGIE sign overhead...

What says "America" more than two geek talk show hosts jumping in a giant pudding pie (while dressed in sexy maid outfits)? U.S.A.! U.S.A.!

There's only a few bands out there any more that i'll actually go out and buy CDs anymore, but old favorites The Tossers are one of them. Sure, I'm a couple months late getting their last one, but i picked it up today and it reminded me we're less than two months away from St. Pats.

Dropkick Murphys, The Tossers, Flogging Molly... I think they'll all be passing through town in the next six weeks.
